October Goals

Happy October!!

I am loving Autumn so far, and now we have one of the best months ahead of us! As such, I just had to start off what I hope will be a successful Blogtober with my October goals. I have some goals for my blog and goals for myself too.

Blog goals:

  • To reach 600 followers/subscribers on my blog
  • To complete Blogtober to the best of my ability. I know you’re supposed to post every day, which may be difficult, but I’ll try and post as much as possible.
  • To follow more blogs
  • To reach 1k followers on Instagram.
  • To reach 1.2k followers on Twitter.

Personal goals:

  • To read at least two books (one being my book for my mobook monthly Book Club)
  • To save money for Christmas presents
  • To make my own lunches at home rather than buy food at work or on my lunch break.
  • To see my close friends more
  • To put my clean washing away as soon as it is done (rather than leave it in a tote for ages).

So there we go! What are your goals this month? Let me know in the comments!

Astonish Hob Cleaner Review

Happy Saturday!

I wanted to just do a review of the Astonish Hob Cleaner and show how it worked for me. I’m a huge fan of cleaning, although I hated it until I had my own home! My house is far from perfect, and I dont have as much time to clean and tidy as I’d like, but I do enjoy the cleaning up and the sense of achievement that comes with it. I haven’t cleaned my hob for much longer that usual; I usually try and wipe it down most days after use but with wedding planning, the actual day and honeymoon planning/packing and going away etc, it’s been quite a while! I couldn’t wait to clean it, and thought it was the perfect chance to showcase one of the products I use for my blog.

This time, I used one of my favourite products, the Astonish Hob Cleaner. It has quite a cream consistency and comes in a 235ml bottle which I feel last a long time as you don’t really need a tremendous amount.

As you can see, there is quite a lot of grease and spillages on my hob. The stains are usually really tough to get off and the grease and dirt makes the job really dull and grubby. Astonish describe this product as:

  • An everyday essential. Removes burnt on spills and dried on food
  • Polishes to a sparkling shine
  • Leaving a protective coating to help prevent damage from further spillages

I poured some of the cleaner straight onto the hob and used an ordinary washing up sponge to work the product into every part of the hob, including carefully around the controls. I used a sponge that was very slightly damp. Once the product was worked into and covered the entirety of it, I used a microfibre cloth to buff the product out.

Yellow power!

So did this product work? Well, see for yourself:

The before and after photos just show why I love using this cleaner. Has it done what it says on the tin? (Bottle). Yes it has! It has removed all of the stains and grease and left a lovely sparkling shine. Astonish also say that it leaves a protective coating on the hob to prevent future spills. Whilst I believe that if something is to spill onto the hob it’s still going to stain the hob and you can’t stop that, I do that that the shine remains for quite a long time so I do think that it does leave somewhat of a barrier.

Overall, I am always very impressed by this product and out of all of the products that I’ve managed to somehow make fit in our cleaning cupboard (my husband often says I have more cleaning products than Morrisons), I always reach for this one. I love it!

I hope you enjoyed reading this! What ae your favourite cleaning products? Let me know in the comments!

Ten reasons why Autumn is the best season ever!

Autumn/ Fall is my favourite season and always has been, so trying to condense the reasons why I love it that down to just 10 things is so difficult! There is just so much to love about it!

So here we go, in no particular order:

  1. The Colours. There is nothing like going for an Autumn walk and strolling through hues of oranges, browns, red’s and yellows. There is something so beautiful and cosy about them. It generally just promotes my happiness and I love mmirroring these shades with what I wear too.
  2. Halloween. Of course. Halloween is so much fun! Of course, it’s much bigger in the USA than here in Britain (I’m so jealous of you Americans), but it is growing! I love having my own house in a little village because I get to decorate it inside and out, and all the village children come trick or treating which is so nice. I love everything witchy and magical. Dressing up and doing Halloween makeup too. Halloween is definitely my second favourite ‘holiday’.
  3. Bonfire Night. If you’re not from the UK you may not be so familiar with this, however Bonfire Night commerates the anniversary of the failed gunpowder plot to blow up the houses of parliament in 1605 by Robert Catesby, Guy Fawkes and co. Yay history degree kicking in there. I find the history fascinating but I love that we have fireworks displays all around the country and bonfires, often accompained by mulled wine (close to Christmas after all), hot chocolate, and a hotdog or two! And don’t forget the toasted marshmallows! It’s great to get wrapped up and get outside!
  4. Michaelmas Fairs. Namely my hometown’s annual occasion – Abingdon Fair. It is the longest street fair in Europe and it’s so much fun! As a child I loved the rides, as an adult I love that there are many pubs along the way (it is basically an excuse for a pub crawl not going to lie) stalls and games, doughnuts, candyfloss and an absolutely wonderful bustling cheeful atmosphere!
  5. Cosy Nights In. Who doesn’t love to get into their warmest pyjamas, fluffy socks and settle on the sofa with a hot chocolate or cup of tea ad a nice book? I seem to read more in the Autumn, its just so chilled and peaceful.
  6. Hot bubble baths. Before you get into those lovely pyjamas, the hot bubble bath (with a cheeky bath bomb thrown in obviously) makes it perfect! Of course you can do this at any time of year, especially in the depths on winter, but it’s nicer in my opinion when the nights are drawing in than after the shortest day when the nights are getting slightly longer. Dont ask me why! I guess we’ve had the heat of Summer when I don’t usually have baths when it’s hot, therefore I’ve missed having a relaxing bath and I enjoy it more!
  7. Wholesome and warming Food. Like above, you have have these sorts of meals any time of year, but the nights drawing in is an encouragement and kind of makes the food even nicer! I’m talking about stews, soups, casseroles, etc, those dinners/ teas you have after a cold day which warm your bones! Just me? Perhaps!
  8. The Fashion and clothing. I love putting away my shorts and summer dresses for another 6/7 or so months, and digging out the warm and cosy clothes! Warm chunky knitwear? Ohh heaven! Autumn hues? Yes please! New pair of boots? You just try and stop me! Autumnal fashion is the best.
  9. PSL time. Yes I am talking about the fact that it is Pumpkin Spice Latte season people! The best, most delicious, most warming, most happiness-inducing drink the exists on the planet is very high on my list of the best things about Autumn! Very unhealthy but whole cares, its Autumn now! I could actually live on PSL’s, I’m such a basic b**** but I love it!
  10. Countdown to Christmas! Now as I write this on September 26th, we are 90 days away from the big day! Christmas is my favourite holiday and I’m such an Elf. I love everything about it! The lights, decorations, joyful spirit, family time, amazing food, shopping etc… and it’s like the prize at the end of the season of small prizes! The ‘ber’ months are what makes me happy!

Well there we go! Do you likemany of these aspects of Autumn? What are your favourite things about Autumn? Let me know in the comments!🧡

Sundose Supplement Review

Hi guys!

Here is my review of Sundose. I was very kindly sent a course of these supplements which we tailored to suit me, however as always my review will be completely unbiased.

Sundose create personalised supplements tailored to your individual needs that contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, probiotics and adaptogens.

The right nutrition can be beneficial not only for hair, nails, and skin condition but also can improve mood and stress levels.

Here’s what I thought:

I love the fact that the product is made especially for you. When you are looking to buy the product, you just have to answer a few short questions which enables Sundose to tailor the products specifically to you. It is then created from scratch for you and sent. The shipping was really quick too. I would say though, that it would be great to have a leaflet inside detailing what the vitamins contained; this was on the outside of the box and the print was rubbing off a little from transit. It was still readable though! The supplements contain many active ingredients, such as Vitamins C, D, E, B6, B12, fish oil, zinc, magnesium, calcium and many more, all individualy tailored to your needs.

You recieve 30 days of products, which consists of 6 tablets and a sachet which you mix with water. I was a bit worried about the sachet tasting awful, but it isn’t bad at all. It has got quite a sharp taste but still does taste of orange juice. I did find that the powder didn’t fully dissolve so did have to keep stirring it, but other than that I had no issues. Of course if you aren’t keen on taking tablets then taking 6 tablets a day may be a bit more difficult for you. I found I was able to take them without any difficulty.

Now, we’ve all heard stories of different vitamins making you look and feel better and if you’re like me who takes so many vitamins usually with no effect, you’re going to be sceptical of this product. However, I can honestly say that after taking Sundose for 30 days, that I did really notice a difference! I’ve felt more ‘awake’ and brighter, and my skin has been so much clearer; even my husband remarked that I had acquired quite a healthy glow. My hair seemed to get greasy less often too, so I’d say that’s a win win!! I also felt more active and refreshed. This was perfact as I completed the 30 day course just in time for my wedding day! My nails have been stronger and I was feeling super happy, although was getting excited about my wedding day! Overall I am really happy with this product and I’m very grateful to Sundose for allowing me to sample it!

I would definitely take Sundose again and I am really happy with the results. You can order and tailor your own vitamins on the website here, or check them out on Facebook, or via the app store as in the above photo.

Thanks for reading!

My morning skin routine July 2019

Evening all!

The UK is currently basking in a thousand degrees of heat (not even an exaggeration) and I’m writing this while sat on some hard stone steps in my garden with a pink gin and lemonade because why the hell not. You don’t realise how many windows are actually in your house until you have to open every single one, especially upstairs as when you walk up the stairs the heat just hits you like you’re entering the gates of hell.

Anyway, I thought I would write about my current morning skincare routine. I use most of these items each morning, and a few when I have time such as at the weekend. Without further ado and rambling, keep reading to find out my top products at the moment! I’m going to write about them predominately in the order that I apply them, with perhaps one exception. I have also realised that they are all products from The Bodyshop, oops! I’m not a body shop person nor have I been influenced to write this (I wish I was that lucky), but they are my absolute favorite company.

Vitamin E Gentle Face Wash.

I start off with this lovely face wash. I have very combination skin so this works really well on any dry areas. It feels so fresh and light on my skin, and has a really nice subtle scent. This face wash instantly makes my skin feel perfectly clean first and refreshed first thing in the morning.

Vitamin C Liquid Peel

I absolutely love this stuff. I use a very small amount and that goes a long way. This peel literally does peel off the dead and dry skin on your face, leaving your face feeling instantly refreshed and glowing. This does make one hell of a mess in your sink though, don’t say I didn’t warn you, but it’s worth the extra cleaning.

Vitamin E Hydrating Toner

Like it’s facial wash counterpart, this toner is so hydrating for all of the dry areas on my face and the scent is unreal. I don’t want to keep repeating the word ‘fresh’ but it generally does feel amazing after. I just apply a small amount of this onto a cotton wool pad and pat my skin with it.

Seaweed Oil Control Lotion SPF 15

The Seaweed range is specially formulated for combination skin such as mine, so I do love this. It helps to mattify my face without drying it out, and the main reason why I use this in the morning is because it has a built-in SPF to help lessen the risk of the sun’s rays harming my skin. If there is one skincare tip I’d give to anyone, it’s always always always wear sun cream or at least a moisturiser with it built-in, whether it’s this particular one or another of your choice. It’s so important to stay safe in the sun, as I’ve just taught my Brownie Guides Group.

Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer

I use this under my eyes mainly, to try and brighten the dark circles under my eyes which I swear I’ve had since I was born. It’s a great base for foundation to go on to, and helps to provide a healthy looking glow. It’s very subtle in my opinion, but I do think it makes a slight difference and I do love it.

Mandarin Energising/ Rose Dewy Glow Face Mists

I’ve put both of the mists that I have on here, because I always put one on, it changes everyday. This is usually due to the fact that I’ve ended up losing the other one or getting where I’ve put it but that is besides the point. Both are really good, and provide a healthy looking glow. The best part of this is that it’s also perfectly make up friendly, so you can spray them throughout the day to rejuvenate your skin and it will not affect your make up at all, even your mascara! Winner. Also it is amazing in this heat to cool your skin a little throughout the day.

Nicaraguan Coffee Intense Awakening Mask

Ahh last but not least. Obviously I don’t use this every day, but I usually use it on a weekend morning when I have more time. I’d also usually use this after the toner but before the moisturiser. I don’t know if that is right or wrong but it works for me so let’s just go with it! This smells absolutely divine; just the scent of the coffee wakes you up! This mask is amazing and really helps to clear my skin up, and it is so refreshing. It is just delightful and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone. I apply it with a clean foundation brush as it is very messy; and then remove it with warm water and a face cloth. My skin feels so soft and looks really bright when I have used it, and a little bit really goes a long way so it lasts for so so long.

And we’re there! Apparently that thousand degrees I was talking about has decreased a little, and it is actually a little chilly outside now. I’ve also finished my gin, so I’d say it’s time to retreat into my house and wrap this post up. Thank you for reading, and again I promise I don’t work for Bodyshop, I just love them!

My Homemade Chocolate Brownie Recipe

Hi lovelies!

I’ve made this recipe about five times in the last week so I thought I’d share it in my blog. This is my own recipe so may not be exactly how everyone else makes brownies but my husband-to-be (and chief guinea pig) absolutely loves them so they must be ok!

Ingredients:

  • 150g plain chocolate
  • 80g butter
  • 225g caster sugar
  • 75ml vegetable oil
  • 3 egg whites (from medium sized eggs)
  • 180g plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees celsius/ 350 degrees farenheit/ gas mark 4. Line a baking tray with greaseproof baking paper. Heat a saucepan of water to boiling on the hob and then set to a medium heat.
  2. Put the chocolate, butter, oil and sugar together in a mixing bowl and place the bowl on the saucepan of water. Melt the ingredients together, stirring frequently, until the ingredients are blended together. Remove from heat.
  3. Add the egg whites and stir. Add half of the flour, stir in until completely mixed, then add the other half and repeat.
  4. Add the rest of the ingredients one at a time, stirring each time.
  5. Pour mixture into the baking tray, ensuring that the mixture is spread evenly. Place in the middle of the pre-heated oven for 20 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool. If you you try to cut the brownies whilst still too hot they will crumble. Cut into squares.
  7. Enjoy!

Thanks for reading!
